iMagDent Receives CON Approval for State-of-the-Art 3D Dental Imaging Center
Cutting-edge digital imaging services to complement and streamline area dental practices
Memphis, TN – Memphis soon will be home to one of the state’s first outpatient diagnostic centers providing cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging for dental patients thanks to the unanimous decision this week by the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency (THSDA) to grant a Certificate of Need (CON) to iMagDent of Memphis.
With the CON approval, iMagDent of Memphis will move forward with plans to locate its imaging center in the Atrium One building at 6800 Poplar Ave. The center will open in early 2010 as the only licensed outpatient center devoted to 3-D dental imaging in the Memphis market. Patients needing CBCT imaging will be referred to iMagDent of Memphis by dental professionals, including oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, orthodontists, endodontists, prosthodontists, maxillofacial radiologists and general dental practitioners. Only about 4 percent of dental practices in the country have this technology in their practices.
“Three dimensional dental imaging has dramatically changed the potential for presurgical and treatment planning and is rapidly becoming the standard of care for dental imaging,” said Jeffrey H. Brooks, DMD, associate professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Tennessee at Memphis and clinical director for 3-D Kodak Imaging. “iMagDent has a phenomenal reputation, and having access to this type of imaging center in Memphis will be a tremendous benefit to practitioners and their patients.”
CBCT technology produces 3-D images that can be viewed on a computer screen and can be used for diagnosis, implant planning, orthodontic records, virtual study models and more. A single scan allows for complete analysis of all oral and maxillofacial anatomy with 95 percent less radiation than a traditional medical CT and at a greatly reduced cost. The CBCT scanner is fast, comfortable (nothing goes in the mouth), and painless.
iMagDent also offers a host of services to provide the greatest value from 3-D imaging to the dental practice, including:
- Virtual Implant Treatment Planning Assistance
- 3D Orthodontic Records
- 3D Rendering Movies of your patient’s anatomy
- 24-hour access to patient records online
- Computer Generated Surgical Guides
- Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Radiological Interpretations
